Quoted in Chapter Seven: Pride
Sonnet 35 - If I leave all for thee, wilt thou exchange

If I leave all for thee, wilt thou exchange
And be all to me? Shall I never miss
Home-talk and blessing and the common kiss
That comes to each in turn, nor count it strange,
When I look up, to drop on a new range
Of walls and floors, another home than this?
Nay, wilt thou fill that place by me which is
Filled by dead eyes too tender to know change?
That 's hardest. If to conquer love, has tried,
To conquer grief, tries more, as all things prove;
For grief indeed is love and grief beside.
Alas, I have grieved so am hard to love.
Yet love me—wilt thou? Open thine heart wide,
And fold within the wet wings of thy dove.

Elizabeth Barrett Browning

Invited to take her place in the running of the house and summoned from Australia, younger sister, Rachel is determined to introduce male slaves to the household. Will she succeed or will she fall foul of Danielle's rules?

Simply click on a name to visit with the lovely writers featured at their own blogs, webpages or at Facebook...

Jason Jaxx:

"Should Erotica challenge the reader to explore their sexual boundaries or give them what they want?"

What an interesting thought, Jason. I believe erotica (at least for me) is an exploration of the writer’s own sexuality. What people chose to take from it is their decision. I am happy to be simply entertainment for my readers. However, I write from my heart, so there are sprinklings of life lessons learned, experiences shared, and private fantasies revealed. I am honored when it affects my fans on a deeper level and opens their minds or challenges them to try new things.

We all have different needs when we read the genre: entertainment, curiosity, sexual hunger, or a need to get hot quickly just before a session with one’s partner - all are valid.  I am not trying to push my beliefs or sexual practices on anyone. I am just sharing an intimate part of myself; hopeful others can relate and gain what they were looking for from reading it.

Katie Dylan:

What was your research process for the Brie books and was there some part of the research that was particularly interesting and exciting?

A popular question, Katie. J Brie is my vision of a perfect submissive training school. A college-like course run by experienced Doms specializing in various BDSM skills. Who wouldn’t want to share in their expertise and beneficial critiques? Lusty growl…

I wanted to expose readers to various practices through Brie’s uneducated eyes. What might be considered too much for the uninitiated at the beginning of the six-week course becomes acceptable by the end. As much as possible, I experienced what I wrote. If I could not, I found out from others the how-to of the practice and what makes it enjoyable. I only write what turns me on, I’m selfish that way. Can I just say that the experimentation has been divine?

In the process of writing the novel, I came across new tools I adore and furniture I love.

Chloe Thurlow:

What part does death play in erotica?

Chloe, I cannot speak for others, but it definitely plays an important role in mine. I have lost loved ones very close to me and that hole is alluded to in many of my erotica stories including, but not limited to, And Then He Saved Me, Varick: The Reckoning, The Keeper of the Wolf Clan, and His Scottish Pet.

I have survived those losses and moved forward still grateful for each day. I want my readers to know they are strong enough to do the same. We do not get to decide what life deals out, but we DO decide how we handle it. Pain is a part of life; therefore it plays a part in my writing even when I express myself through erotica.

Elizabeth Woodham:

'How do you explain the presence of a Tantric chair when your parents come to visit...?'

Well, Elizabeth, the truth is hubby and I keep it in the bedroom. When you have kids, it is really the best place to enjoy the benefits of such delicious furniture. The real question is how have we explained the sexy looking chaise lounge to the kids? Thankfully, the Tantra chair looks comfortable for reading. We have it next to the window, so it gets plenty of natural light to make it convincing. However, one of my teenagers looked at me and shook his head. He may not know the wonders of the chair yet, but he suspects it has nothing to do with reading.

Martin J Carey:

Hi Red. Do you plan out the themes that you include in your stories? You've written Vampire erotica, the Brie series; do you have any new themes coming up in the future?

Thanks for asking, Martin. Many readers do not know the mischievousness of my muses. They are not limited to vamps and BDSM. Oh no, I have written about werewolves, young love, ménage a trois, and a Dom who lives forever. This year will see the completion of Brie’s After Graduation series, sequels to several of my books including Scottish Pet, as well as another segment of Varick (the vamp).

Well, at least that is the plan if the muses cooperate. ;) I still have stories yet to be written, including a spicy one:  naughty deeds + a dark wine cellar = unforgettable hotness.

Brenna Zinn:

My question is a two-part question. Red, do you read your own work and if so, is there a sex scene that you prefer above the others?

I am grinning here, Brenna. I write sex scenes that I thoroughly enjoy, so yes, I have read my stories many times simply to jump back in with the characters and to enjoy the sex they have together. I do not know if that is unusual for writers, but if the scene didn’t turn me on I wouldn’t have written it in the first place.

Favorite scenes I go back to? (Blush) I enjoy reading Brie Lives Her Fantasy when Rytsar finally takes her, scenes with Dan in Blissfully Snowbound, the ‘ritual’ in The Keeper of the Wolf Clan and the sexy scenes between Cyril and Lauren in And Then He Saved Me. I could go on, but I will spare you. I am addicted to my own work - pathetic I know.

Hedonist Six:

I've learned from other interviews that you write under a pseudonym for reasons of privacy or not wanting to make family/friends uncomfortable. Would you ever consider "coming out" fully, perhaps for the fame & fortune?

Oh girl, yes I have toyed with the idea! In some ways, I hate living under a pseudonym because it feels like a lie. I want to be accepted for who I am and what I do. At the same time, with relatively few people knowing what I write, I can walk around freely. Nobody asks me what is happening with certain characters or when the next book will be out. I feel a little like Clark Kent. ;)

I keep the secrecy mainly for my kids. I do not want them to suffer any negative attention. But for me? I feel that if you are a friend or family member and you hold my choice of career against me, then we were never truly close to begin with.

Chase Boehner:

In many authors’ most famous creations, there is usually a real life moment of inspiration or a personal connection with the character; is the same true of Brie's humble beginnings to the iconic character she has become?

Chase, in some ways (of all my fictional characters) Brie is the closest to my true nature - although I would say she is far more humorous than I. There are scenes in my life that are represented in the novel, and there are scenes of pure fantasy (my personal dreams).  I have never been to a training center. But dang, if I could have found one like this when I was unattached I would have jumped on it. ;)

As far as Brie becoming an iconic character, well… that is her journey alone. I am unsure why, of all my books, hers is the one that resonates with readers the most. It may be simply the 50 Shades craze or the unique environment of the Training Center. Part of what sets Brie apart from others is that she is an independent, intelligent woman who willingly delves into the unknown world of BDSM. She takes the reader along with her through the six-week course.

In the end, the only credit I can take is that I listened to the muses, all of them. From major players like Sir & Marquis, Tono, and Faelan as well as Mary, Lea and of course Brie.

Kallypso Masters:

Which was the hardest book to write--and why?

Great question, Kallypso. If we are talking about the Brie series - none of them. That series flows out of me like a river, although I will say I cried when I wrote the last line of Brie Learns the Art of Submission. I hated saying goodbye to the characters. L Luckily, I only said goodbye for a couple of months, but I missed them during that time.

Now, if we are talking about my other books, then I would have to say that Varick: The Reckoning was the most difficult to write. The vampires of Varick’s world are metaphors for tragedies and evil experienced in my own life and those around me. It took a part of my soul to write (it physically and spiritually hurt to pen the story), but I needed to. It was a way for me to let go of the pain. No matter what is thrown at us, we choose how we react and how those wrongs will shape our lives.

I truly believe life is beautiful, and every day is precious.

Given to promiscuity, Chloe Merrywell enjoys a hedonistic lifestyle, but now the stranger she met on New Year’s Eve plans to introduce her to his family and she doesn’t have a thing to wear. Little red kilts worn without panties may attract the man but will not impress his sister.
